The Catedral Basílica de la Inmaculada Concepción de Durango was built between 1695 and 1788 during the colonial period of Nueva Vizcaya. Declared a Minor Basilica by the Holy See and seat of the Archdiocese of Durango, it is today the main historical and cultural attraction of the state.

Its three naves of 119 varas in length house 11 baroque altars, 24 cantera pillars, 18 cross vaults and three sculpted portals considered among the most elaborate in northern Mexico. An essential destination for cultural, religious and historical tourism in Durango.
